LOCA CAFE
LOCA Café is a tropical–industrial coffee space in the commercial heart of Padang, designed as a warm open hub for both young crowds and families. Built on a 320 m² site, the café blends raw material textures with open courtyards and a rooftop area that extends the social experience beyond the interior. Natural light, layered greenery, and exposed structure create a relaxed yet urban atmosphere rooted in tropical sensibility.
The Warm Openness of Tropical Industry.
The design began by reinterpreting the tropical openness into a modern industrial form, emphasizing flow and visual continuity between indoor, courtyard, and rooftop zones. The spatial layout encourages natural ventilation and easy movement while maintaining clear zoning between service and social areas. Material contrasts—exposed concrete, wood tones, and metal screens—were composed to balance rawness and comfort, shaping a café experience that feels grounded yet expansive.
