DJAYA DELAPAN CAFE

Djaya Delapan Café stands as an urban retreat that blends industrial strength with inviting warmth. Encased in corten steel and terracotta blocks, the structure balances privacy and openness—its solid lower façade grounding the design, while the porous upper layer filters light and air into the space. The second-floor seating area captures this contrast, where rough textures meet soft ambiance, creating a calm atmosphere within the city’s dense rhythm.

The Raw Warmth of Urban Simplicity.

The design process focused on balancing intimacy and openness within an urban context. Facing north along a busy street, the café’s façade layers corten steel and textured materials to filter privacy and light. Seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces soften the raw industrial character, creating a calm yet connected atmosphere that blends urban toughness with warmth and human scale.
